Application Notes
Solventum Liqui-Cel Membranes / Modules / Contactors are used for gas removal from water and other fluids. Specifically, Liqui-Cel uses a patented fiber and flow design, with module sizes covering flows from 0.5–400 gpm (0.1–91 m³/hr). From a system perspective, larger flow rates are achieved by piping contactors in parallel; by contrast, enhanced gas removal is achieved by piping in series.
Solventu became part of Thermo Fisher in 2025. This strengthens Thermo Fisher’s bioprocessing and life sciences portfolio, and will continue growth in filtration and purification markets. Thermo Fisher focuses on being “The Infrastructure of Science”.
For low surface tension fluids, “SuperPhobic” SP contactors are the best option, such as for inks. As a result, they remove bubbles and dissolved gases to help prevent foaming, nozzle malfunction, misfires, and poor drop formation—supporting faster line/printing speeds and higher quality output.
Accordingly, “MiniModule” and “MicroModule” devices are ideal for small flow rates.
Across applications, Liqui-Cel Membrane Contactors are widely used for O₂ and CO₂ removal from water and have displaced vacuum towers, forced draft deaerators, and chemical oxygen scavengers.
